Bastille Day: A Day of Mourning and Reflection

A day of mourning in Esens, as we remember countless cousins murdered in cold blood by the revolutionaries of 1789 - terrorists who indulged in unspeakable atrocities against thousands of innocents in the name of liberty, fraternity and equality.

France never really recovered from its revolution.

Today, we gather in the church of St Magnus in Esens to pray for the souls of the victims, and for those of their present-day successors everywhere. May God bless and comfort them all!
